Over a thousand people assembled in Manhattan for the March For Bernie last Saturday. The event was organized by Millennials For Bernie and drew a wide range of supporters – from college students to seniors and from Democratic Socialist to animal rights activists.
Among the speakers were several members of People For Bernie, as well as Jared Rice, the deputy major of New Rochelle, NY.
Although the organizers repeatedly emphasized their wish for a peaceful march without any Hillary bashing, many of the marchers chose the Democratic frontrunner as a target.
After an hour of speeches and chants, the group left Union Square Park to march down Broadway towards Zuccotti Park, where Occupy Wall Street was born.
